WHY ?

Satsaunga means spiritual community, or more literally, the society of truth seekers. One thing many of us are missing these days is community with like-minded people.

For those seeking to develop a regular meditation habit, practicing with others is key.

Our events always include meditation, community and sharing food. Sometimes we hold special events that focus on music, or creating connection or chanting.

WHO ?

Our gatherings so far have been by invitation, so if you’re hearing about this, it probably means someone likes you! Sessions are led by Dada Nabhaniilananda, a yoga monk for 45+ years. Occasionally he invites another guest teacher.

There will be around 10 - 25 of us. You will surely meet like-minded people. There is a very friendly, informal atmosphere and great spiritual energy.

FOOD

Please feel free (no obligation) to bring some food or beverages to share. This is an alcohol free event - I guess that’s no surprise.

It’s also Sattvic Vegetarian, which is a bit of a step beyond regular garden variety vegetarian. This is an old yoga tradition to do with the effect different foods have not only on the body, but on the mind. Here’s what that looks like:

  • No meat of any kind
  • No eggs
  • No onions, mushrooms or garlic (including minute amounts listed microscopically, or vaguely - think ‘spices’, under ingredients or additives. Assume we are vampires, and garlic is deadly to us)

If you find this a bit daunting, but want to learn something new, check out this amazing sattvic recipe site: www.simplysentient.org   Or just keep it simple and bring some nice juice to share, or invite a friend who is an awesome cook and get them to take care of it!

KIND WORDS FROM PARTICIPANTS

" I always enjoyed the time with Dada who balanced wisdom from the old scriptures, spirituality, and blended it seamlessly into the practical life of living in a fast paced world with responsibilities and dependencies. His practical wisdom, wonderful music, and joyous energy is always uplifting. "
- Savinay Berry

“ I recently met Dada and was genuinely amazed. He’s so full of life, warm, and just instantly makes you feel good to be around him.

I joined one of his meditation sessions and it completely shifted how I think about meditation. No sitting still trying to focus on your breath—instead, he picks up a guitar and starts chanting in this melodic, calming way that actually helps your mind slow down.

It’s such a smart approach, especially for tech folks like me who find it hard to switch off. Honestly, it just works. ”

- Albina Sitdikova

" It was such a joy to meet Dada here in Silicon Valley. The satsang he led was truly a beautiful experience… filled with soulful singing, lighthearted humor, and deep, grounding wisdom. What touched me most was how effortlessly he weaved modern, tech-oriented perspectives with ancient spiritual truths. His presence is calming, his message is timeless, and his way of connecting with the heart is truly a gift. So grateful for this encounter! "
- Sarika K

It was an absolute honor hosting a Satsaunga at my home. Friends from different backgrounds and faiths all singing, meditating, contemplating, discussing and asking questions on spiritual topics together is a wonderful thing. Dada leads the gathering in such a beautiful way with his voice and guitar. I love that this exists. All you have to do is feed the Monk Dude and he will transform your home into a temple!
